Fabulously nerdy 20 minute YouTube video where Spider-Verse composer Daniel Pemberton breaks down the last track on the film’s soundtrack in meticulous detail.

I absolutely loved Spider-Verse, and I’ve been delighted to discover that many of the artists who created the movie are active on Twitter and have been posting all kinds of fascinating material about their creative process. I’ve been collecting examples in this Twitter thread for a couple of months now. They definitely deserved that Oscar.

Here in London my closest cinema is charging £17.45 for an adult ticket to see Man of Steel in 3D, which is equivalent to $27.55. I've paid the same to see Star Trek Into Darkness recently.

There's basically nothing in Skyfall that depends on the previous two movies, so you're perfectly safe watching them out of order (don't watch Quantum of Solace without watching Casino Royale first though).

I find it hard to believe that MI6 could be that incompetent.

First, they lose that hard drive.

Then, they get hacked.

Then, despite having been hacked, they capture the hacker and put him in a computer-controlled prison (maybe a physical lock might have been a good idea) then plug his laptop in to their network and turn it on.

Then Bond convinces M that the smartest thing to do is ditch the entire country's security apparatus in favour of driving up to Scotland with basically no weapons, no backup and deliberately leaving a trail for the bad guy to follow. Which gets M killed.

That kind of annoyed me - but not as much as the bit where Bond (the Luddite) helps Q (the computer genius) decrypt a message by spotting some hexadecimal scrolling past on the screen. The message has an N and a U in it. N and U aren't in the hexadecimal alphabet! #nerdrage

Watson needs to be more competent. Jude Law's Watson is significantly more useful than Martin Freeman's - Watson is a military man and a doctor, and is hence useful for far more than just bumbling around with a quizzical expression and updating his blog.

Irene Adler is supposed to be the only woman to ever outwit Holmes. She shouldn't need to get all of her ideas from the consulting criminal Moriarty, and she definitely shouldn't need Holmes to rescue her.
